What is the process for termination of a parents rights and then the child's step parent adopting them?

My son was born in Wisconsin. I have since married and we now live in Illinois. His biological father is willing to terminate his parental rights so my husband can adopt him. He lives in Wisconsin. What is the process and how much does this cost? Will I have to pursue this in Wisconsin or Illinois? What is the process for termination of a parents rights and then the child's step parent adopting them?
Get an Illinois lawyer and file in Illinois courts.

The Illinois lawyer can tell you all you need to know. What is the process for termination of a parents rights and then the child's step parent adopting them?
Wisconsin has jurisdiction since that is where ( I assume) the birth certificate is. You need to go to the county clerks office and ask for termination of parental right's papers. Then, you need to file adoption papers in the same office.

It shouldn't cost much, maybe a $100 max in filing fees total and you don't need a lawyer since all parties are being cooperative.
